On the Bus

I’m on the bus. We left the Franklin Unitarian Society at 11pm. It was a few crazy hours figuring out what to bring: hat, sunscreen, food, water, rescue remedies. I’m wearing the T-shirt I got last time I was in Washington when the Pope visited. I had to decide who I would be marching with: 350MA who supplied the bus? First Parish Unitarian where I am representing the Green Sanctuary program? I decided to march with the Jewish Climate Action Network (JCAN) because they are trying to build a national network to radically reduce the carbon footprint of Jewish houses of worship. The founder, Rabbi Katy Z. Allen has been chosen for an interfaith photo, so I agreed to help carry the 10 foot banner that carries the message from the Midrash, “See to it that you do not spoil and destroy My world; for if you do, there will be no one else to repair it.” I will be gathering with the group called the “Keepers of the Faith”, behind the “Defenders of Truth” (the scientists and educators) and in front of the “Reshapers of Power” (anti-corporate and fossil fuel resistance). I will be looking for my Unitarian friends, I’m sure they’ll be there in droves. Hey, maybe I’ll see a few people I know from California or elsewhere. We shall see.

Meanwhile, I need to sleep.
