Event Details
The Expresso Yourself Coffeehouse is an opportunity for spoken word artists to share their poetry, stories, and songs. It is held the last Saturday of every month at 7pm at First Parish Unitarian Universalist, Medfield, MA. Open mic readers have 5 minutes to share. Original or non-original poetry, stories, performance art, music or songs welcome. Sticking to theme encouraged. Teens and adults welcome. Refreshments from Starbucks are served. Medfield TV films event and posts to Youtube. $5 suggested donation ($3 students)
On July 22, Expresso features Carolyn Waters. The theme is ‘Coming into Me.’ Waters is a performing singing/songwriter who fuses blues/roots/folk and other musical genres into a unique unforgettable blend of songs and sounds. She can belt out barrelhouse and juke joint blues, or fuse them with a pinch of Gospel and roots. Waters has been featured in the Boston Blues Society’s Ladies of the Blues Events, sharing the stage with the late great Shirley “Regal Queen of the Blues” Lewis, Lydia Warren, Lisa Marie and Diane Blue to name a few. She has performed at the Homegrown Coffeehouse, the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival, Serendipity, Beatniks, and many other venues in New England, New York, Maryland and Virginia. “Carolyn Waters is a force of nature. Some people are simply created to sing and bless those who listen, Carolyn is one of those people”. – Rev. Robert Jones, Sr. Acclaimed Blues/Roots Musician/Blues Historian
